Insects
Insects are small terrestrial invertebrates with six legs and a hard exoskeleton. Most have wings and were the first creatures to develop flight.
They are the largest group of animals on earth by far, comprising more than half of all known living species.
We often think of them as irritating beasts and forget their important functions in the ecology of life around us. The insects listed below (follow the links for more detailed information) are too often thought of in terms of their nuisance value.
